Unlike most of our hats, this piece was created simply from a rounded crown block and lots of steam and hand-shaping. This particular hat was for a private school event in Louisville, Kentucky, and was blocked from a single, large, flat piece of hand-woven straw called buntal. It features a large silk blossom and over-the-top Lady Amherst pheasant tail feathers. 

Like all of the items in our Whimsy Collection, this piece was entirely hand-blocked and hand-sewn. Each client who purchases an item from the Whimsy collection will receive an extensive design consultation and as they say in New Orleans, a lagniappe, or a little something extra.
